An associate of the family that devised Barq's root beer, Hillary Barq, intends to start a blend ice cream parlor, high end wine store Malaysia and cafe on Magazine Street, she declared in a Coliseum Square Association meeting March 21. She must convince the town to allow permission to sell off-assumption packed spirits.
??She went for support to the local organization. Several speakers also expressed trepidation in regards to a job including spirits within an area inundated with pubs and wished her success.
??Barq expects to sell packaged spirits and rare wines, along with martini shakers, stemware and wine openers, she said.
??Barq brought mixologist Dylan Morgan to the assembly, and they described their vision for a liquor store offering fine spirits and wine would match into an ice cream shop and cafe that sells two varieties of sandwiches and coffee.
??"On assumption consumption, that is not likely to take place," Morgan said. "We are not likely to bring another watering hole to the area."
??The organization needed her to consent to not sell her shop to an organization that already does serve open container booze on site, since land use shifts are done by place, not by the individual using and readily could become a less controlled liquor store under a fresh owner, should Barq leave, the group described.
